In the nineties Bad Blumau was an agriculturally dominated village with low infrastructure and only a few businesses which offered a limited number of jobs.
After several years of construction work, the Hundertwasser Thermal Spa / Rogner-Bad Blumau was opened in May 1997. Thanks to its unique architecture it has since been in the spotlight like never before. As no major investment in tourism had been made in the area before, a new era started. At great financial expense, investments were made in redeveloping the area and improving the tourist infrastructure.
Thermenpark von Bad Bluamu With 2000 overnight stays at the beginning, Bad Blumau has now got over 200 000 overnight stays per year and has thus become one of Austria´s leading tourism communities.
In the year 2001 Bad Blumau was the only Styrian community to receive the European Village Renewal Prize and was declared a thermal spa resort.
